Compare and contrast Brutus and Caesar. Are they similar or different?

Caesar was loved and hated. Some people may remember him as arrogant, However others may remember him as a great leader and person. Shakespeare presented him as a great leader and rome was heading at right direction. Also he was an great military. He won the war and that displays resilience, leadership and honour. Furthermore, he was ambitious. But on the other hand, Shakespeare displays him with hubris.

Marcus Brutus was known as an honourable man. There was a quotation which he stated, ‘ not that I loved Julius Caesar less; But i loved rome more’. What Marcus Brutus is refering to is that he loved Julius Caesar like a best friend, but he loved rome more and Brutus thought that Caesar was ambitious and that a bad sign of character. That was Brutus reasons behind the conspiracy against Caesar.

Caesar and Brutus are similar in terms of hubris. Caesar displays hubris when a dear lover and follower: Artemdious tells him that he should not trust the conspirators because Shakespeare presents the scene as if Caesar has know clue the sneaky conspiracy. Also Marcus Brutus displays hubris when he killed Julius Caesar and he
leaves Rome with Cassius. The audience may as seen that as an dishonourable act.
Brutus and Caesar are different in many aspects. Brutus was an noble and honourable man. Shakespeare showcase that when Brutus calls he’s servent Luclius instead of servent. The audience make look at that and think that Brutus shows respect and loyalty. Whilst Caesar calls his servant ‘servant’. That comes across as selfish. Instead of appreciate that you have servant, he excepts to have these privileges and that shows why they are completely different.
‘Caesar now be still
I kill’d not thee with good a will’

What the quotation means is that Brutus killed himself and he quoted ‘Caesar now be still’ which means that Caesar can have peace upon he’s death because he killed Caesar. The other line says ‘ I kill’d not thee with good a will’. What that means is that he would rather die with honour rather than stay alive with no honour.

‘My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar and I must pause till it comes back to me’.

Antony is really clever is the speech after Caesar died. He uses repetitive language saying Brutus is ambitious and a honourable man and the crowd start to question Brutus and Antony stated ‘My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar and i must pause till it come back to me’. Antony shows loyalty and believe he would not do anything till it comes back.
